 GATE QUESTIONS

Q.  How will delivery vehicles be able enter through the gates?

A.  Delivery vehicles needing frequent access, e.g. FedEx, UPS, newspapers, etc. can call your home to obtain access, or use the non-gated entrances.

Q.   Is anything required to exit through the gate?

A.  Yes, a remote transponder is needed to exit thru the gates. The transponder has four buttons – you will only use the two gray buttons. The large button (right side) is used to exit. Upon opening you will have 15 seconds before the gates will start to close. Upon passing the sensor – gates will also start to close.

Q.   I understand that a remote transponder will be available.  Is there any cost for this device?  Any limit to the number of remotes I can request?

A.  Remote transponders will be available at a nominal cost.  There is no limit to the number of remotes that can be purchased. The transponders are available thru your LCHOA representative.

Q.   What happens if there is a power failure?

A.  The gates will be set to an open position until the power returns.

Q.  How will police and fire personnel gain access through the gates in an emergency situation?

A.  The gates have sensors that will respond to the flashing lights on emergency vehicles.  The gates can also be activated remotely by equipment on many of the Plainfield emergency vehicles.

Q.  Will bike riders and pedestrians be able to get through the gates?

A.  No, not without the remote.

Q.  Are there gates planned for the Wood Duck Drive and Lakeshore Drive entrances?

A.  The LCHOA Board approved a single gate to provide the community with experience upon which to base future decisions.  There is no plan to approve any additional gates until the community as a whole has a chance to live with the gates.  This will allow future decisions to be based on actual experiences and not conjecture.  Additional discussions will be held both with the various community boards and in an open meeting prior to any decisions on this topic.

Q.   What is the Village of Plainfield’s position on the gates?

A.   The Village of Plainfield’s Planning, Engineering, and Building groups have no objections to the installation of gates on roads that the community owns.
